A young Domenico Losito leaves Trani in search of new opportunities far from his homeland. His journey comes to a halt in Seveso, north of Milan, where the story of Losito & Guarini begins.
In the small town of Brianza, Domenico opens a tavern, where for the first time he serves wine by the glass, poured into the traditional ‘scüdela,’ paired with the delicious dishes prepared by his wife.
Over the years, the family grew with the birth of four children, including Michele. Michele had the opportunity to study at the renowned industrial design institute ‘Didattica di Seveso S. Pietro.’ His natural talent for design and passion for wine led him to create original sketches for some wine bottles.
In the 1940s, after marrying Renata and moving to Lentate sul Seveso, the couple opened a trattoria, marking the start of a family business passed down through generations. At their establishment, they sold the classic 'fiaschetta,' the iconic rounded wine bottle wrapped in straw that we all recognize.
Michele began delivering wine door-to-door to expand his customer base. With enthusiasm and hard work, he achieved great success, which led him, in the 1950s, to decide to expand the business and move it to the outskirts, where he could experiment with new methods and take advantage of larger spaces.
Meanwhile, Michele's daughter Luisa married Mr. Guarini in 1968, a man of Puglian origins who sold wine wholesale in Como. Unfortunately, not long after, Michele passed away due to wounds sustained during World War II, leaving his dreams unfulfilled.
After their marriage, the Guarini couple settled in Lentate, where, driven by new ideas, they installed the first bottling systems, which had previously been done manually.
Tradition, innovation, and technology: the business experienced continuous growth, thanks in part to its first entry into large-scale distribution, allowing the company’s wines to be recognized beyond regional borders.
Always attentive to market shifts, the company successfully integrated itself into the Italian mass retail sector.
In the 1990s, Davide and Renato, the sons, also joined the family business, each taking on different roles: Davide focusing primarily on commercial activities, while Renato, following the opening of the new headquarters in Oltrepò Pavese, took charge of purchasing and production.
Driven by a desire to revisit family memories during a Christmas dinner, Davide and Renato uncovered bottle sketches made by their grandfather Michele at the beginning of the previous century.
Like a story with a happy ending, the two brothers decided to bring Michele’s dream to life by producing those bottles in the current “C’era una volta” and “Luigi Guarini” lines.
After more than 20 years, the company decided to reinvest in the sparkling wine sector, achieving excellent results right from the start.
Losito & Guarini wines are now available on various e-commerce platforms and continue to be appreciated worldwide.
The Metodo Classico Blanc de Blancs Brut Millesimato is now available and on the market.
The company will introduce a new Metodo Classico in its sparkling wine collection: the Pinot Nero DOCG Spumante from Oltrepò Pavese.
